Vision boards are a great tool for any goal you have for yourself during any stage of life. However, the most popular time to create a vision board is during New Years.

That is because a new year brings in New Year’s resolutions! It’s hard to not look back at how far you’ve come as things come to a close.

Reflect on where you started verses where you are now. What things are you happy with? What do you wish you would have improved?

Taking note of this will help you when deciding on what your focuses should be for the upcoming year ahead.

I always like to start on my resolutions in November/December that way I can really solidify what my vision is for my new year. I start slowly shifting so that by the time the new year has arrived I’m ready to go.

This year I started my planning on Pinterest during November. Then in December I created a physical version of that to put up on my office wall. I look at everyday when I work. This way I have a constant reminder of what I’m working for to keep me motivated and inspired.

This post contains links to products that I have researched or used that I think you would enjoy based on the article you are reading. I used to be an Amazon Affiliate to receive a commission. I am no longer apart of the program but I still wanted to share these products because I truly believe in them and think they will come in handy! Using my links to purchase is no extra cost to you!

What Is a Vision Board?

A Vision Board is exactly what it sounds like it is. It’s a template to showcase your “vision” for whatever goal you are trying to achieve in a visual way usually through images. You can make a Vision Board for an upcoming year, or you can make it more specific to a particular goal. For instance, you can make one geared toward your studies or your career.

How Does a Vision Board Work?

By putting your goals into the physical world you can help manifest your wildest dreams. Vision Boards allow you to gather the hope in your head and bring it into real life, leading you one step closer to making it your reality. By keeping your Vision Board in view and constantly looking at it, you remain reminded of what is truly important to you. This can help you focus on what you truly want to focus on and drown out distractions.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF VISION BOARDS

There are many different types of Vision Boards. This means that you’ll be able to find something that works best for you. Try one, or like me, do multiple! I personally have a wallpaper Vision Board on my phone, multiple Pinterest Boards, and I also made a physical one on poster board this year. My process of that can be found on my YouTube channel.

Pinterest Vision Board

I am a big advocate for Pinterest. It’s the easiest way to gather and organize photos in my opinion. I always begin my vision boards on Pinterest.

Start by searching up different topics that reflect what you want for your upcoming year. Then you simply pin the pictures that resonate on a board that you can reference throughout the year for inspiration.

TIP: Add the word “aesthetic” to the end of your search to get better picture results! My number one search for my vision board this year was “it girl aesthetic”. It had tons of options for healthy lifestyle, travel and fun.

Poster Vision Board

I consider this the original vision board.

Get a poster board and some glue or tape and a bunch of pictures that represent your goals.

You can either print pictures of or get some from magazines. Magazines are hard to come by nowadays so I bought this Vision Board Book that includes over 800 pictures and quotes. I highly recommend! I do go through this book on my YouTube, so if you want to see more of what’s inside before you buy you can check that out.

Arrange the pictures in collage form all over the poster board. Secure with glue, or tape. I also covered mine in Mod Podge to really seal and symbolically solidifying it.

Pin it on your wall when you are done, in a place that you will see it often. I put mine next to my desk in my office. I see it every morning when I work on my blog. It reminds me of the path I want to take and inspires me to take it.

Phone Wallpaper Vision Board

This one is a really great option if you, like me, look at your phone a lot.

Having all your goals flashing in your face multiple times a day keeps them on the forefront of your mind and helps you not lose sight of the path you want to be on.

Create a collage using an app like Canva on PicsArt.

Use photos like the ones you may have pinned on your Pinterest Vision Board with pictures that bring your goals to life for you.

Power Point Vision Board

This one is helpful if you have multiple areas of your life that you have a vision for that you would like to keep separate.

For instance you can have a slide dedicated to your career, one for your fitness goals, and then a slide focussed on your creative endeavors.

Use the appropriate slide to steer your motivation when you need specific guidance, or flip through the slides periodically for overall inspiration.

Again, you can use pictures that you find online. This is another reason I always start my vision boards with a Pinterest board because you can use them as a base to create so much more from!

Here’s to a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Whichever Vision Board you decide on, make sure you have it somewhere that you see it on a regular basis. It’s not going to serve it’s purpose if you make it and then forget about it.

That’s what so many people get wrong about manifestation. It’s not just about saying what you want and expecting the universe to give it to you. You need to keep it on the forefront of your mind very single day, and take the steps in order to reach those goals. Nothing comes without a little work (usually a lot), but making a clear vision of what you want is an incredibly helpful first step.

I hope that this article will help guide you on deciding how you want to bring your hopes and dreams to reality.
