How to Throw the Perfect Valentines Dinner Party

Valentines Day is one of my favorite holidays! I love the love! I also love how over the years the focus of Valentines Day has expanded past couple love to include all kinds of love, like the love you share for your friends. Even coining the term “Galentine’s”. I actually wanted to use Galentine’s for my title but my SEO rating went way up by using “Valentines” Sexist much?! *joking*

Another thing I did just for the sake of SEO? Take out the apostrophe in Valentines so that I could use it as my keyword phrase. It helps to have your keyword in your url and I didn’t want an apostrophe in my url! So it’s you’re wondering why a published article has grammar mistakes, blame google. And now I’m getting off track aren’t I? This isn’t an SEO article it’s a VALENTINES ARTICLE!!

I made some wonderful gal pals when I was up in Vancouver. I miss them so much! While I’ve been out scouting all the cute new Valentine’s merchandise that’s been flooding the stores since December 26, I keep thinking about how I wish I was with them for this holiday so that I could host a Galentine’s Dinner Party.

I figured since I can’t bring those ideas into fruition at least this year, I could at least let my creative juices flow and plan what I would do, and share it with y’all! I’d love to live vicariously through the posts I’m sure to see flooding my feed when February comes around.

Where to Shop for Valentines

As I said above, I have been all over the place soaking in the pink and red lovey dovey decor. So I know you have tons of options on where to shop to get your supplies. Without even breaking the bank!

Dollar Tree/Dollar General

Obviously, Dollar Tree was by far the most affordable place I visited looking at Valentine’s products. Of course nothing seemed to actually be a dollar which makes their name sound misleading… You can find cups, plates, decor and more! I actually went to 5 different Dollar Trees looking for those viral glass bear mason jars. I unfortunately could not find them anywhere. And online you have to buy 24 in order to ship them! But, even without what I was there for I found a ton of stuff!

Check out my YouTube Video of my Dollar Tree Valentine’s Haul to check out everything I got!

I also added Dollar General as an honorably mentioned because although they actually had things that were really only a dollar, I personally wasn’t crazy about the selection. But, that doesn’t mean you won’t!

Target

Every new season I head to Target to check out their value area at the front of the store. This is the area where everything is usual, $1, $3 or $5. So obviously it’s the main area I look at because I have no money. This years Valentine’s merchandise did not disappoint! They had a super cute tea party collection that is to die for! I ended up buying 4 of the tea cups and I can’t wait until the day I whip them out for a tea party and wow the room. They are amazing quality too because they’re glass not plastic!

Walmart

I have seen so many different videos of where to shop for cute Valentine’s items yet not one was at Walmart! One thing I really loved about Walmart’s selection was it also included anti-valentines day merchandise too. Even though I’m a big Valentine’s person I still loved the broken heart merchandise. I couldn’t justify buying much more Valentine’s stuff since I’ve already spent about $100 this season (with no jobs yikes!) so I made a YouTube Short showcasing all my favorite items!

They also had a whole section with supplies to make your own chocolate covered treats and cute containers to put it in. I though that would be such a fun party activity idea!

CVS/Walgreens

This may seem like an odd addition but pharmacies actually slap when it comes to seasonal goodies! CVS was actually the only place I went to the had Valentine’s candles which was exactly what I was looking for! Okay, correction, there were little heart shaped candles in the value section at Target, but I’m talking about full size candles! I like to have the scents of the season surrounding me, usually switching out every two months. So, my scent for January/February is this Limited Edition Chocolate Covered Cherries Candle. Perfect to set the atmosphere.

Home Goods

This is one place I have not gone to but I’ve seen tons of videos on! I know that I will find so much that I’ll want so I’m choosing to save my wallet! The focus I’ve seen has mostly been on home decor though so I’m not sure on the selection of party supplies.

Hobby Lobby

This is another candidate that is more focussed on decor than party supplies but it’s still worth checking out!

Now you know where to shop but now what do you shop for? Of course this depends on your party and how many people are coming but this should give you a good idea of where to start!
